This was reduced from an initial 12-man shortlist that included Billy Kee (Accrington Stanley), Charlie Wyke (Carlisle), Danny Hylton (Oxford United), Jordan Bowery (Oxford United), Lyle Taylor (AFC Wimbledon), Marc Richards (Northampton), Piero Mingoia (Accrington), Ryan Brunt (Plymouth) and Scott Boden (Newport County).
