Manchester United striker James Wilson could be on his way out of Old Trafford after being left out of the club's pre-season tour of China, Sky sources understand.

The 20-year-old had a spell on loan at Brighton last season after failing to secure a regular place at United and, despite featuring in the 2-0 friendly win at Wigan in Jose Mourinho's first match in charge, he will not travel to the Far East.

As expected, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will also sit out the tour having been given extended leave after playing for Sweden in Euro 2016.

United take on Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on Friday before heading to Beijing where they will face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Monday.

England internationals Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Chris Smalling are included in the 25-man travelling party, despite featuring at Euro 2016, along with David de Gea and Paddy McNair.

Anthony Martial and Morgan Schneiderlin will be given further time to rest after featuring in the France side that lost to Portugal in the final on home soil, while Germany midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Italy defender Matteo Darmian will also remain in the UK.

Ibrahimovic's fellow summer signings Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan do travel, while Luke Shaw will continue to step up his fitness after making his return from long-term injury in the friendly at the DW Stadium.
