Alvaro Negredo can rediscover his form in the Premier League at newly-promoted Middlesbrough, says manager Aitor Karanka.

After struggling to make an impact at Valencia, the 30-year-old striker is back in England, where in 2014 he helped Manchester City win the league title for a second time in three seasons.

However, just a few months later he moved to Valencia and has failed to shine at a club which finished 12th in La Liga last season.

But he arrives on Teesside on a season-long loan and Karanka told the club's website: "He is a really good player and if he recovers his best he will be a really important player for us.

"Another reason I wanted to sign him is because he has played in this country and he knows the league.

"I'm pleased and he's pleased because he wants to play his best and he knows that England and this club is the best place to recover his self."
