Sheffield Wednesday have brought defender Vincent Sasso back to the club on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old, who played 19 times in all competitions for the Owls during a season-long loan spell last term, has signed from Braga for an undisclosed fee.

The arrival of Sasso, who had spells at Nantes and Beira-Mar before moving to Braga, comes after injuries to key defenders left Wednesday short of centre-backs.

The Frenchman told the club's official website: "I'm really happy to be back and this is better than a loan move for me.

"I know the staff, the club and all the people working here. This helps a lot because I know exactly where I'm coming into and hopefully I can help the team.

"We went from strength to strength last season, it was really good for the fans and a great experience for all the players.

"In part it was difficult for me because I had a small problem with my knee but now I feel 100 per cent.

"I am much more accustomed to the Championship, especially the physical side of the game. I know when the referee will blow his whistle and when he won't.

"It is different in Europe and where I have been playing my football. I understand the intensity and I know exactly what to expect. There will be no problem for me."
