Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson has defended the sale of Ahmed Fathi to Egyptian club Al Ahly.
The midfielder was only signed for The Blades by Neil Warnock in the January transfer window, but slipped down the pecking order at Bramall Lane.
Fathi secured his move to Al Ahly for £675,000 on Tuesday, but a number of supporters have questioned the decision, with many feeling that he had a lot more to offer.
Robson, though, has explained his decision to offload the youngest player to be capped for Egypt, revealing that he felt Fathi's style of play was not right for the Championship.
"I'm looking for something a little bit different. I think Ahmed is a good player but he's not quite what I'm looking for," Robson told The Star.
"I just didn't think that he was suited to the Championship style of play, the way you've got to do things in the division, and so it is the best thing for all concerned. Really, it's just down to that.
"He's a nice lad and I'm sure he'll do well. I wish him all the best."
Robson could replace the Egyptian with former Brazil international Ze Maria, who is currently on trial with the club.
