Magilton hands trial to former France international striker

Ipswich Town have handed a trial to former France international striker Steve Marlet.

The 33-year-old, who remains Fulham's record signing at £11.5million back in August 2001, has been capped 23 times by his country.

The former Marseille and Wolfsburg striker is on the lookout for a new club after his Lorient contract expired in the summer.

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has confirmed Marlet will spend a week with the club in a bid to win a contract.

"Steve will spend the week with us and we will look at him and he will look at us," he told the club's official website.

"He has played at the highest level in club football and is also an experienced international so he has a good pedigree."
