Defender uninterested in move; Nugent transfer imminent

Jason De Vos says Ipswich Town will be his last club as playing for another Football League side 'would be a step down'. The 34-year-old, who has started 34 Championship games this season, is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new deal. De Vos is happy at Portman Road, but admits that he is prepared to retire at the end of the current campaign. He told the Evening Star: "I expect this to be my last football club because playing for anyone else would be a step down unless, improbably, I were to go to a Premier League club. "I'm very happy at Ipswich and I have no desire to play for anyone else. I don't foresee myself playing for anyone other than Ipswich Town. The gaffer knows that and he knows I'm happy here. "My intention has always been at the end of my playing career to return to Canada and pursue whatever opportunities present themselves to me and the media is something I'm keen to do in the future. "At the moment, football is my job and it is my desire to win promotion. That is the goal we have set ourselves and if a run of form can materialise we can still go up automatically."

Nugent

Meanwhile, Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp expects David Nugent to complete his move to Ipswich in the 'next dew days'. The striker has failed to make an impression since heading to Fratton Park from Preston last summer, and is keen to reignite his career with a loan transfer to the Ipswich. Redknapp told Radio Solent: "It should be tied up in the next few days. It's a good deal for us financially too which is important. "(Portsmouth chief executive) Peter Storrie has been dealing with their chairman (David Sheepshanks), and they have made a good offer. Lots of clubs have asked about taking David, but Ipswich are the only ones to come forward with a decent offer. "David is interested in going, so we're just waiting for his injury to clear up, which should be in the next few days."
