Marcelinho the subject of police investigation
Wolfsburg captain Marcelinho has been hit with a heavy club fine after an incident in a Berlin disco.
The Brazilian midfielder is the subject of a police investigation after being accused of attacking a man with a bottle following an argument at the weekend, but he denies the alleged victim's version of the incident.
Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath announced in a written club statement that he believes his player, but has fined him for his 'behaviour in public' and the fact that he was in the disco in the early hours of the morning.
"Marcelinho has assured me that at no point was he ever personally involved in any physical action of that kind," Magath explained.
"I know what sort of person he is. He likes to have a good time, but he is certainly not a thug."
No official details as to the fine imposed have been revealed, but a report in
Bild claims that the 32-year-old former Hertha Berlin man has been told to pay €10,000 for his misdemeanour.
