No new deal for long-serving keeper

Long-serving Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Mathias Hain has been told he can leave in the summer. The 35-year-old club captain was told at the weekend that his contract will not be extended at the end of the current season. "It was a very difficult decision for us to make," sport director Detlev Dammeier told the club's official website. "But at the end of the day we decided that with Rowan Fernandez and Dennis Eilhoff, who will be coming back from Koblenz, we have two players who can bring us forward both from a sporting point of view and as far as age is concerned." Hain joined Bielefeld from Greuther Furth in 2000 and has been an almost ever-present during his eight years at the Schuco Arena.
