Striker leaves Bramall Lane for Valerenga

Luton Shelton has been allowed to leave Sheffield United to join Norwegian side Valerenga. The Jamaican striker moved to Bramall Lane in January 2007 but scored just four goals for the Blades. He did not figure in Kevin Blackwell's plans for the new season and has taken the chance to link up with Valerenga. A fee of £1million has been agreed between the two clubs, which could rise should his stay with the Tippeligaen side be successful. "Luton wasn't exactly what I was looking for, he was a bit of a maverick," Blackwell told United's official website. "This opportunity arose for him to play regularly and that is just what he needs at this stage of his career."
