Veteran custodian completes switch
Arminia Bielefeld have signed 38-year-old goalkeeper Alexander Bade.
The former Cologne, Bochum, Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund player, who had been out of contract, has been handed a deal until the end of the season at the Schuco Arena.
Bielefeld needed to sign a new goalkeeper following a training-ground knee injury to first-choice custodian Rowan Fernandez, who is now expected to be sidelined for up to twelve weeks.
Bade will take his place on the Bielefeld bench as coach Michael Frontzeck continues to play youngster Dennis Eilhoff in goal, but the club are confident that the veteran can jump into the breach if necessary.
"He is a goalkeeper whose great experience means that we can select him at any time without any worries," Arminia sport director Detlev Dammeier told
Kicker.
