Umit set to be sidelined

Cologne defender Umit Ozat looks set to be sidelined for the rest of 2008. The 31-year-old collapsed on the pitch during his team's Bundesliga victory over Karlsruhe on 29th August. According to Kicker, tests in a Hannover hospital have revealed an inflammation of the cardiac muscle which will now keep Ozat sidelined for up to six months. No official confirmation of the diagnosis has been given by the club and in an official statement they have appealed to the press to give Ozat the peace and quiet he needs to make a recovery. "It is important that Umit Ozat is being looked after by the best experts," Goats' general manager Michael Meier told the club's official website. "We are not putting ourselves under any sort of pressure. Umit has the right to take as much time as he needs to complete this period of tests. "We assume that we will see Umit on the pitch again, but the most important thing at the moment is his state of health."
