Eintracht Frankfurt defender Christoph Spycher will be out until the New Year with a knee injury.
The Switzerland international right-back missed Sunday's 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Stuttgart after picking up the injury and an examination by club doctors has now revealed cartilage damage.
Spycher will undergo an operation on Monday and will not be available again until the Bundesliga restart at the end of January.
The news is a massive blow to struggling Frankfurt, who already have influential striker Ioannis Amanatidis sidelined with a similar injury.
