Brazilian makes first appearance since horror tackle

Manchester United midfielder Rodrigo Possebon was pleased that he managed to come through the Carling Cup clash with QPR unscathed on Tuesday. The Brazilian featured for the Red Devils in the previous round when United overcame Middlesbrough, but the game was marred when Possebon was on the receiving end of a horror tackle from Boro captain Emanuel Pogatetz. The Boro man was given a straight red card for the challenge that left the young Brazilian needing a stretcher to help him off the field. Fortunately for the 19-year-old the injury was not as bad as first feared and the midfielder was pleased to be back in action against the Championship side. He told the Daily Star: "It was very good. I've been waiting for this chance to play in the first team again. "I put what happened against Middlesbrough out of my head." United were left frustrated against managerless QPR at a wet and windy Old Trafford as the visitors showed little ambition when it came to attacking. But the United youngsters remained patient and secured their passage to the quarter-finals thanks to a 76th-minute Carlos Tevez penalty, and Possebon was pleased with the outcome. He added: "The weather wasn't very Brazilian but the performance was."
