Non-contract striker departs Elland Road

Experienced striker Malcolm Christie has parted company with Leeds United after being released. The 29-year-old, who was originally brought to the club by Gary McAllister, had been on non-contract terms with the resurgent League One outfit since October. Christie made his debut for the club in the FA Cup and scored his only goal for the club in their 3-1 win at Stockport last month. The former Middlesbrough and Derby forward recently voiced his disappointment at failing to secure a permanent deal at Elland Road.

Not happy

"I'm not particularly happy with the situation," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "It's not that I'm at all unhappy with Leeds - but it's not ideal to be without a contract for a long period of time." Christie has fallen down manager Paul Grayson's pecking order of late and it has now been decided it is best to part ways.
