Swiss midfielder has contract terminated by mutual consent

Johann Vogel has left Blackburn after having his contract terminated by mutual consent. The Swiss midfielder made just two appearances for the club this season, one coming against Conference North side Blyth Spartans in the FA Cup. The 32-year-old was signed by former boss Mark Hughes in March last year and played six times under the Welshman. But Vogel fell out of favour with Hughes' successor Paul Ince and was unable to force his way into Sam Allardyce's plans. He made his only other outing this term as an 84th-minute substitute in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the start of December. The experienced Switzerland international has amassed close to 200 league appearances for the likes of PSV, AC Milan and Real Betis. Vogel joined Rovers from Betis 13 months ago on a free transfer following a legal dispute with the Spanish club.
