Striker released after failing to score this season

Hereford United have cancelled the contract of striker Simon Johnson by mutual consent. Former Leeds United youngster Johnson joined the Bulls in 2007 and helped the club to promotion to League One last season. However, this term he has largely been used as a substitute by manager Graham Turner and failed to score in 33 appearances. His last game for Hereford came on Easter Monday when he appeared as a late substitute for Matt Done in the 2-1 defeat at Tranmere Rovers. During his time at Edgar Street, Johnson scored six goals in a total of 27 appearances for the Bulls, whose relegation back to League Two has already been confirmed.
