Former Wales international resumes radiotherapy treatment

Critically ill former Wales international John Hartson has resumed radiotherapy treatment two days after undergoing emergency neurosurgery. Hartson underwent emergency neurosurgery to relieve pressure on his brain earlier this week after being informed he had testicular cancer that had spread to his brain last weekend. The 34-year-old was transferred to Singleton Hospital on Friday for his radiotherapy treatment and is now back in Morriston Hospital's ICU where he remains critical, but stable.

Stable

"John Hartson remains critically ill, but stable, with his family and close friends continuing to support him," confirmed a spokeswoman for ABM University NHS Trust. "He has resumed his radiotherapy treatment," she added. "He was conveyed by ambulance to Singleton Hospital earlier today for his radiotherapy treatment, and has now returned to Morriston Hospital's intensive care unit." Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray says Celtic, where Hartson spent five years of his career, are fully behind his recovery.
Bhoys support
"The force of the Celtic family behind you becomes very evident at times of adversity," stated Mowbray. "I felt it a lot of years ago when I was at this football club. "Hopefully, in what is his recovery period back to good health, he will feel the warmth of the Celtic family behind him. "I had the pleasure of working with him for a couple of years at West Brom. While it was a difficult time for John with his fitness levels, I felt we developed an honest relationship between a manager and a player and I think there was mutual respect of what each other was going through. "I can only wish him the best because the bottom line is he is a good man, his heart is in the right place."
Greatest players
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who managed Hartson while the pair were at West Ham, has echoed Mowbray's sentiments and wished the striker all the best. "We're thinking of John. We love John Hartson so much," he told Sky Sports News. "I was his manager at West Ham. He's one of the greatest guys I've been able to manage in my career. "We're all pulling for you big man. Everyone who knows you loves you. You can pull through this John."
