Knight, Plummer and Bennett leave Quakers by mutual consent

David Knight, Matt Plummer and James Bennett have left the league's basement club Darlington by mutual consent. Goalkeeper Knight, defender Plummer and midfielder Bennett were all handed one-year deals by former manager Colin Todd when they arrived in the summer. But the trio have been released from their contracts as new boss Steve Staunton seeks to guide the Quakers to safety. Knight, who was released from Mansfield at the end of last season, made nine appearances under Todd, while former Hull trainees Plummer and Bennett featured for the first team on 12 and five occasions respectively.
