Blades coach believes poor form is down to injuries
Sheffield United coach Gary Speed is convinced Kevin Blackwell is the right man to keep the Blades on course for the play-offs.
Manager Blackwell is coming under mounting pressure after his side slipped to ninth in the Championship table with just one win in their last five league matches.
The Blades were beaten finalists in last season's Championship play-off final at the hands of Burnley and Blackwell suffered defeat at the same stage in 2006 when in charge of Leeds.
However, Speed blames a crippling injury list for United's indifferent season this time around and, being just three points off the play-off positions, insists Blackwell is up to the job.
Speed said: "He has dealt with awkward situations at both Leeds and Luton, so he is better equipped than most to handle it all.
"I do think most fans do recognise how hard achieving team cohesion is when faced with as many injuries as we have and I have never known anything like it, either as a player or a coach."
