Midfielder looking for new club after Exeter release

Veteran midfielder Alex Russell is determined to extend his playing career following his release by Exeter City. The 37-year-old was not offered a new contract by the League One club, but has no plans to head into retirement over the summer. Russell believes he is still capable of playing to a decent level and is on the look-out for a new club after his departure from St James Park. "I want to keep playing, and I've got plenty left in the legs," Russell told the Herald Express. "I'll have to weigh up where I play, though." Russell joined Exeter on a free transfer from Cheltenham Town last summer after previously enjoying a loan spell with Paul Tisdale's side. He made 32 appearances for the Grecians this season, but has featured only once since late January due to a back complaint.
