Cobblers lose out to Rotherham for Elliott
Northampton Town boss Ian Sampson is still looking to improve his squad after missing out on the signing of Tom Elliott.
Sampson had made an attempt to sign Elliott on loan, but the Leeds United striker opted to join Northampton's League Two rivals Rotherham instead.
Former Coventry defender Marcus Hall has been offered an extended trial as he looks to earn a contract at Sixfields and Sampson is anticipating further additions.
"We are still looking to add to the squad," Sampson told the club's
official website. "Tom Elliott decided he wanted to stay in Yorkshire so that was his decision.
"We are looking around and we have one or two irons in the fire. Marcus Hall is on an extended trial with us and that will remain the case for the next few games."
Elsewhere, young forward Alex Konstantinou, who was stretchered off in the 2-1 friendly win over Corby, is not expected to be out for too long.
Sampson added: "Alex will be out for a period, but it is not as bad as it could have been. We will assess him as time goes on and I am sure he will be back soon."
