Lazio have upped their efforts to keep Cristian Ledesma at the club by offering him a new contract.
The Serie A outfit saw Aleksandr Kolarov set off for Manchester City on Saturday and are determined to ensure that there are no further departures.
Argentine midfielder Ledesma is among those to have attracted attention this summer, with various clubs reported to have expressed an interest.
The 27-year-old has just 12 months left to run on his current deal and was dumped from first-team duties at one stage last season following a falling out with chairman Claudio Lotito.
However, those differences have since been put to one side and Lazio are determined to do all they can to retain the services of the South American star.
Negotiations
Improved terms have been put to Ledesma and Lotito is hoping an agreement can be reached before the 2010/11 campaign gets underway.
"The negotiations are ongoing," he told
Lalaziosiamonoi.
"We still believe that Ledesma is a top player and the club has made the same offer which was put forward last summer.
"The player declared that he would stay at Lazio under certain conditions and we have responded in demonstrating our will to renew his contract.
"Given that his current deal is set to expire in twelve months, we are keen to conclude the matter in the interests of both parties."
