Former star Pavel Nedved nominated for place on Juve board
Former Juventus midfield idol Pavel Nedved has been nominated for a place on the club's board as they continue to revamp their top brass.
Nedved, 38, retired at the end of the 2008-09 campaign after a nine year tenure at the club and had been mooted as a possible youth team manager.
Indeed, some fans had even wanted the former 2003 European Footballer of the Year, installed as manager.
Demoted
Nedved endeared himself to Juve fans by staying with the club when they were demoted to Serie B as a result of a match-fixing scandal in 2006.
Club president Andrea Agnelli though wants to increase the board members from seven to 11 and views Nedved as ideal for the position.
Exor, Juve's holding company, released a statement to the Italian stock exchange to that effect.
Sampdoria
New sporting director Beppe Marotta and coach Luigi Del Neri, who both arrived from Sampdoria, have also been nominated in a bid to increase the number of football people at the top level of the club.
Juve shareholders must approve the new names at a meeting on October 27th.
