Ex-France star wants closer relations with Mourinho

Former Real Madrid star Zinedine Zidane is ready to accept an offer from head coach Jose Mourinho to work more closely with him. Zidane, who retired from the game after the 2006 World Cup final, is wanting to get more involved in first-team affairs. The Former France great is currently acting as an advisor to club president Florentino Perez. However, after the ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho asked Zidane to be closer to the pitch at the Bernabeu just last week, it seems as though the 38-year-old is ready at accept his offer. "I will work with him (more regularly)," said Zidane. "It will be seen in the coming weeks. I will be a link between the first team and the president. "I want to work more with Mourinho. It suits me in a way, because I wanted to get more involved in the structure of the club." Zidane is viewed as a peripheral figure for the nine-time European champions as they try to wrestle the league title off Barcelona and end a run of six years without even reaching the UEFA Champions League quarter finals.
