Former Premier League star joins up with Asian outfit

Out-of-contract Nicky Butt has signed a three-month deal to play for Hong Kong side South China. Butt opted to sign the three-month contract, set to start in January, after making a guest appearance for the club last month. The former Manchester United midfielder was a goalscorer and man-of-the-match in the game with TSW Pegasus, despite missing a penalty. The experience was enough to see Butt put pen to paper for a stay that will run through until the beginning of May. Butt will then return from Hong Kong to start taking his coaching badges. "I had an enjoyable time out there," said Butt. "The experience was good, so I have decided to go for it."
