Paatelainen hoping Aubameyang can make an impact in the SPL

Kilmarnock have snapped up Gabon international Willy Aubameyang from AC Milan on a contract until the end of the season. Aubameyang has joined the SPL club on a free transfer after the midfielder failed to make an impact at Italian giants Milan. The French-born 23-year-old joined Milan in 2005 from Triestina, but was unable to break into the first-team fold and had been on loan at Monza earlier this season. Killie boss Mixu Paatelainen is delighted to have added Aubameyang to his squad and is optimistic he can make an impression in Scottish football.

Exciting signing

Paatelainen told the Daily Record: "It's an exciting signing for the fans because we have brought in a player from one of Europe's biggest clubs - a boy who has been given a wonderful football education at AC Milan. "We need to see how he adapts to the game in Scotland because sometimes players from Southern Europe struggle with the tempo of the SPL. "But he has good attributes. He's a strong player and technically good and we think he will be able to do a job for the team."
