Experienced midfielder expected to stay at Villarreal
Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers believes any deal to sign Villarreal midfielder Marcos Senna may prove to be 'too rich' for the Premier League new boys.
Senna is available on a free transfer and is yet to make a decision on his future as he weighs up signing a new deal with Villarreal.
He has suggested that he will stay with the Primera Liga club, but he has also been offered the opportunity to link up with Swansea.
Rodgers feels the 34-year-old would be positive about a move to the Liberty Stadium, but has hinted a deal could be out of the Swans' reach.
"I spoke to Marcos and our initial feedback was positive," said Rodgers in the
Evening Post.
"He was keen to come but I think it may well be that the deal will end up being a bit too rich for us."
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins added: "There is obviously a big difference between speaking to a player and actually signing them, and I'm sure a player of his standing will have been inundated with options."
