Jenkins set to discuss deal for Barca forward
Swansea are understood to be closing on Barcelona striker Jonathan Soriano, with talks set to be opened.
The 25-year-old finished as the top scorer in the Spanish Segunda Division last season, notching 32 times for Barca's B side.
Swans boss Brendan Rodgers has identified the prolific frontman as a top target this summer and is hoping his board will deliver the goods.
Chairman Huw Jenkins will do all he can to appease his manager, with there plans in place to meet with Soriano's representatives.
The Swans supremo has stopped short of confirming that the Barca star is the man he is looking to tie up a deal for, but he has hinted as to the identity of the player in question.
Hopeful
"I will be meeting with the representative of a player that we feel will be perfect for Swansea City," Jenkins told the
South Wales Evening Post.
"He has the talent that would fit in to the style in which we believe in, and we are hopeful of him coming here.
"By flying out to meet his representative, I hope we can agree a deal within the next few days. We will talk about what we want to achieve as a club, and what the player wishes to achieve too."
When asked if Soriano was the man at the centre of the talks, Jenkins added: "I think Brendan likes him, and I don't think anything has happened with him yet this summer."
Reports suggest Soriano could be lured away from Camp Nou in a deal worth just under £1million.
