Defender turns attention to Vitesse after failing to win Ajax deal

Clayton Daniels has set his sights on joining Vitesse after he was unable to win a contract with Ajax. The Ajax Cape Town defender spent time on trial in Amsterdam last week but failed to earn a permanent move to the Eredivisie champions. The 27-year-old, who has played for the South African branch of the club since 2006, is now spending time on trial with Vitesse. And he hopes he can do enough to impress coach John van den Brom and win a move to the Netherlands.

Ambition

"I have already heard about (Vitesse)," Daniels told Omroep Gelderland. "They have ambition and want to achieve European football. "The plans sound good to me. It is very appealing to try and win a contract here. "The group is young and lacks experience, which is important. "At the end of this week a decision will be made (over my future)."
