Skipper in contract talks after proposed move to Juve falls through

Hoffenheim defender Andreas Beck has confirmed he is in contract talks about extending his stay with the Bundesliga outfit. The Germany international, who has been his club's captain over recent seasons, was close to a switch to Italy but Juventus were put off by Hoffenheim's valuation of the 24-year-old. The defender, who featured in Hoffenheim's opening day 2-1 defeat to Hannover on Saturday, has now opened talks with the club regarding an extension to the 12 months remaining on his current contract. He told Sportinformationsdienst: "I am in talks with Hoffenheim about a new contract, I am very positive on this. "The proposed transfer to Juventus is off, as far as I am concerned. I am not looking to move on, I do not spare a thought about moving to another club. "My focus is to begin the season well with Hoffenheim."
