Brown admits striker is exploring other avenues
AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown has confirmed Marcus Bent is exploring other options before deciding on a possible deal with the League Two club.
Bent is available on a free transfer after leaving Birmingham City and has spent time training with the Dons in recent weeks.
Brown revealed last week that it was 'pie in the sky' that the experienced striker could join the Football League new boys before the close of the transfer window.
The Dons manager, however, is not shutting the door on Bent as the former Everton forward continues his search for a new club.
"We held talks with both Jason Euell and with Marcus Bent but for players to drop from the Premier into the second division they've got to explore a lot of different avenues before they decide to do that," Brown told the
Surrey Herald.
"Basically we've left it that he [Bent] is going to see what happens before the end of the window, which shuts at the end of this month, and we're not under any kind of misapprehension that any second division club would be one of his last ports of call.
"We've told him he is welcome to come training and he has come down a couple of times. He has just moved down from Birmingham."
