Midfielder goes in search of regular football

St Etienne have snapped up Rennes midfielder Fabien Lemoine on a four-year contract. The 24-year-old has decided to move on in an effort to find regular first-team football. He has spent his entire career to date on the books at Rennes but, after eight years, he believes the time has come for a change. St Etienne are delighted to have got their man, with coach Christophe Galtier telling the club's official website: "We have followed Fabien for a while. "When we knew the door had opened, we quickly contacted Rennes. We had a real desire to bring him to the ASSE."

Determined

Rennes boss Frederic Antonetti was sorry to see Lemoine leave. He said: "Fabien was determined to find more regular playing time. I could not offer that yet. "I regret it. We know that the move strengthens one of our rivals, but what can we do? "Fabien is an exemplary player. We respected his choice."
