Esswein out for four weeks

Nurnberg forward Alexander Esswein has been ruled out for a month as a result of a knee ligament injury.

Forward's injury more painful than defeat at Stuttgart

Nurnberg forward Alexander Esswein has been ruled out for a month as a result of a knee ligament injury. The Germany Under 21 international sustained the problem in Sunday's Bundesliga defeat at Stuttgart during an aerial challenge with defender Maza Rodriguez. Nurnberg manager Dieter Hecking now hopes members of his squad can fill the void left by Esswein over the next four weeks. Hecking told Nuremberg-based Abendzeitung newspaper: "Alex will be out for quite some time now. "We have to see players from our squad stepping up and replace him in the upcoming matches. "It's bitter. He is a regular first-team player and I would rather feel this injury hurts us more than the defeat at Stuttgart."
