Chesterfield star Tendayi Darikwa is determined to continue his progress under Paul Cook and help the club enjoy a successful campaign back in League One.

Darikwa, who is regarded as one of the best young players in the lower leagues, played a key role in helping Chesterfield win the League Two Championship last season and a return to League One.

The 22-year-old's form at Chesterfield has not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid with several Premier League and Championship sides credited with an interest in his services.

Darikwa admits he is flattered to be linked with other clubs, but is not paying any attention to the the speculation as he is focused on doing his best for Chesterfield.

"It is a big season for the club and me personally this season going up as champions and we are confident we can enjoy a successful campaign in League One," Darikwa told Sky Sports.

"Not many people probably expected us to go to Leyton Orient who are among the favourites for promotion and win, but we were confident we could get a result and I think a lot of that is down to the manager.

"I believe I have improved massively under the manager and I am keen to learn more under the manager and I will give my best for the team.

"I feel we have improved as a team since the gaffer took over and he likes to play an attacking style of football which has maybe won us a lot of plaudits from other people.

"Of course it is flattering to be linked with other clubs, but I am a Chesterfield player until I am told otherwise.

"I am happy at Chesterfield as the club have been great for me and hopefully I can enjoy more success at Chesterfield and help the club move further up the leagues."
