Everton are interested in signing Inter Milan's captain Andrea Ranocchia, according to Sky sources.

Centre-back Ranocchia signed a four-year contract at the San Siro last summer but it is understood the Italian club are willing to listen to offers for the 27-year-old.

But it is also understood the Toffees will only move for Ranocchia if they agree to sell John Stones to Chelsea and that they are also interested in River Plate centre-back Funes Mori, who would be available for around £5m.

Stones, an England international at 21 years old, has been the subject of three bids from Chelsea at £20m, £25m and most recently £30m - all of which have been flatly rejected by the Merseyside club.

Everton have already lost central defenders Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz left Goodison Park this summer and it is believed Chelsea are maintaining their strong interest in Stones, and could return with a fourth offer.

Italy international Ranocchia joined Inter from Genoa in 2011 and has made over 100 appearances for the club and has scored six goals in Serie A.
