Jurgen Klopp does not want to face Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he does not want to face former side Borussia Dortmund in the next round after seeing his side eliminate Manchester United in the last 16 of the Europa League.

Leading 2-0 from the first leg, Philippe Coutinho equalised following Anthony Martial's penalty to give the Reds a 3-1 aggregate win.

However, the prospect of an emotional reunion with Dortmund is not something Klopp is hoping for.

"Dortmund? Of course not. Why should I want the strongest team in the tournament in the next round?" he said.

"I'm not so silly. But if we go there then we try to win. I'm pretty sure there are no easy games left [in the Europa League], so [who we draw] is not that important, only that we are prepared."

The German was also full of praise for Coutinho after what he described as a 'genius moment' to score Liverpool's goal on the stroke of half-time.

"He had a lot of good moments in the first half. From the working side I think it was the best game I have seen from him," Klopp added.

"He has to trust more in himself because it is clear with his quality he will always get another [chance]. It was brilliant what he did, it was the most unexpected thing you could do in a situation like this."

As for the game as a whole, Klopp was pleased with his side's performance although he felt they created extra running for themselves due to some lax passing when in good positions.

"In my dreams I win all games and it was a draw, but we are through so that's good," he said.

"It was good, it was intensive, we deserved to be in the next round, there's no doubt about this. It was really hard work again but in the future, we have to be a little bit more clear.

"I don't know how many metres we collected through bad passes in the last third, so that's not too smart but the rest was really, really good."
