Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a wanted man and Manchester United may have their work cut out if one non-league club have their way.
The 34-year-old Swede is a free agent with his PSG contract coming to an end and Sky sources understand that Jose Mourinho's new club are the only Premier League option.
There have been reports over the last week that Ibrahimovic is asking for £250,000 a week, but there's a club that may beat everyone to his signature, although the striker may have to reduce his wage demands....a lot.
Non-league Sheffield FC, who play in the Northern Senior first Division South and are the world's oldest club, have made a passionate plea on Facebook to the ex-Ajax, AC Milan and Barcelona forward.
Their open letter reads:
Dear Zlatan Ibrahimovic,
In case you are still looking for a new challenge, we are happy to discuss a signing for next season.
We don't offer paychecks, but real play. Maybe the right thing for you to build a legacy for football, not just a legend for one player.
There is more to the game, than money and fame!
Sincerely Yours,
Sheffield FC #theworldsfirst
Having finished four places away from dropping to the eighth tier, Sheffield FC are understandably keen on beefing up their attacking options for the new campaign.
They will have also been buoyed in their hunt for a star signing this summer with the thoughts on Saturday by Ibrahimovic's agent.
Mino Raiola said: "Does it have to be United? We have yet to decide, it'll be a surprise. There are clubs in England and Europe, some outside Europe, but everyone thinks he must go to Manchester United. It's not true."
