Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Almen Abdi has won the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for February .

Abdi claimed the award after receiving 49 per cent of the public vote, beating off competition from Norwich City's Jonny Howson and Michael Kightly of Burton Albion.

Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman, one of the competition judges, said: "Unfortunately for Nottingham Forest, they seem to have been on the end of quite a few screamers in the last month and this volley was the pick of the bunch.

"His shot was hit with so much pace and power it gave the keeper no chance and nearly broke the net."

Abdi said: "I was put in the squad and I had to impress, and it was a pretty nice goal if I don't mind saying so myself!"

Goodman said: "You need the vision and the awareness to spot the opportunity but having the technical ability to pull it off is sensational."

Otzumer also won the October award and the diminutive 25-year-old said: "There were a few headers, it was bouncing around. It's come across me and I've had no options but to shoot.

"I've just hit it with the outside of my foot on the half volley and it's gone in the top corner."

"The goal displayed strength to hold his man off, skill to outwit three defenders, and accuracy and power in the strike."

Mullin himself said: "I was made up to get the goal and getting a result at Orient set up a good month for us.

"It was one of those where nothing else was on and I managed to get a bit of space for myself, so I just hit it and thankfully it went in."
