England international Karen Carney has signed a new contact with Chelsea Ladies until 2020.
The news is a major boost for Emma Haye's side with the Women's FA Cup campaign underway and the WSL Spring Series soon to start.
Carney, who has over 100 England caps and was awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours list for services to football, won Chelsea's Player of the Year award after only joining at the start of the 2016 season.
On committing her future to Chelsea, the 29-year-old said: "I'm buzzing they wanted to extend my contract, I loved my first season here, it's a fantastic club, the set-up is amazing and the support we get is just ridiculous.
"It's a club that is going places, I like the vision the staff have for where they want the club to be in the next couple of years, and I want to be part of that."
Manager Hayes added: "Kaz joined us wanting to win honours and she feels this is the best place for her to do that.
"Her experience and versatility proved invaluable for the team. She's one of the best players in her position in the world."
Chelsea Ladies host Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the Women's FA Cup at Staines on Sunday. Kick-off is 2pm and with it being Mother's Day, the club are giving away flowers to any mums coming to the game (subject to availability).
