Watch Steve Sidwell's long-range strike - which was voted as the EFL Goal of the Season

Brighton midfielder Steve Sidwell won the Sky Bet EFL Goal of the Season for his stunning long-range strike against Bristol City.

The 34-year old hit home during a 2-0 victory against the Robins at Ashton Gate in November, collecting the ball in his own half before taking a few steps over the halfway line and chipping audaciously towards goal.

But it turned out to be a brilliant effort from the former Fulham and Stoke man, with the ball flying over the head of Bristol City goalkeeper Ryan O'Donnell to put Brighton ahead in the 13th minute.

The goal won Sidwell the Mitre Sports-sponsored award during Sunday's end-of-season awards ceremony, with the winner voted for on the evening.

He beat out competition from across the three leagues, including efforts from Derby striker Darren Bent, Bristol City forward Lee Tomlin and Portsmouth man Michael Doyle.
