Stand by for an astonishing strike and one of the fastest goals ever scored

Is this the quickest goal ever?

In a Scottish Super League First Division clash between Maryhill and Clydebank, the home side took the lead in the quickest way possible on Saturday at Lochburn Park.

Maryhill's Gavin Stokes took an audacious shot on goal straight from kick-off.

Such was the power behind the effort that it headed straight into the top-left corner of the net with goalkeeper Josh Lumsden barely off his line.

The goal would be a sign of bad things to come for Clydebank, as they ended up losing the match 3-0.

The goal, which is not yet officially verified, was timed as being scored in 2.1 seconds, certainly making it one of the quickest goals in British football history.

It is comfortably quicker than the fastest goal in the Scottish top flight, which was scored by Kris Boyd after 10 seconds for Kilmarnock against Ross County earlier this season.
