Wayne Shaw charged with two breaches of Football Association rules

Former Sutton United goalkeeper Wayne Shaw has been charged by the FA over the infamous 'piegate' incident during last season's FA Cup.

Shaw was seen eating a pie on the bench during Sutton's fifth round clash with Arsenal in February, sparking a Gambling Commission probe after a market was offered by Sun Bets for him to be spotted on camera doing just that.

The 45-year-old, who was also Sutton's goalkeeping coach, resigned from the National League club and is now commercial manager at Evo-Stik Southern League side AFC Totton.

An FA statement read: "Wayne Shaw has been charged in relation to two breaches of FA Rules.

"It is alleged the former Sutton United goalkeeper intentionally influenced a football betting market during The Emirates FA Cup fifth round tie against Arsenal on Monday 20 February 2017, contrary to FA Rule E5(a).

"In addition, it is alleged he acted in a manner which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute, contrary to FA Rule E3(1).

"He has until 6pm on Friday July 21 2017 to respond to both charges."
