The Spanish FA president, Angel Maria Villar Llona, has resigned from his executive roles at FIFA and UEFA amid corruption allegations.

Former Athletic Bilbao and Spain midfielder Villar Llona and his son were arrested as part of a corruption probe on Tuesday and were detained as police raided the federation's headquarters in Madrid.

Villar Llona, who has now relinquished his roles as senior vice president at FIFA and vice president of UEFA, has denied all the allegations.

A statement from UEFA read: "On 26 July, 2017, Mr Angel Maria Villar Llona tendered his resignation as vice president of UEFA and member of the UEFA Executive Committee with immediate effect.

"Following his resignation, Mr Villar Llona will no longer have any official functions at our organisation."

UEFA said its president, Aleksander Ceferin, had accepted Villar's resignation and had thanked him for his many years of service to European football.
