FC Barcelona lead tributes to victims of terror attacks

FC Barcelona have led tributes to the victims of Thursday's terror attacks in the city, which have claimed the lives of at least 14 people.

Players and staff gathered together before training on Friday to observe a minute's silence, and the club have confirmed that all their teams will wear black armbands during games this weekend.

A statement from the club read: "FC Barcelona wants to express its profound sorrow and utter disgust at the terrorist attack that has hit the heart of our city, la Rambla de Barcelona.

"The club wishes to send our support and thoughts to the victims, their families and friends as well as the people of Barcelona and its visitors."

Barcelona were not the only team to pay tribute, with city neighbours Espanyol also showing support with a minute's silence at training.

Spanish and European champions Real Madrid tweeted a picture of their first-team squad holding a minute's silence, as did Levante.

"The unanimous reaction from everybody is that we keep going" said Sky Sports analyst Guillem Balague.

"There's absolutely no reason to change the way we think or the way we live and that means going to the games, playing the games.

"There's been no suggestion of cancelling them and we just go on."

The Spanish Football Federation issued a statement expressing its 'total condemnation' of the attack and asking for a minute's silence to be held before matches across the divisions.
