Despite Cork City's stadium suffering significant damage in Storm Ophelia their game against Derry City on Tuesday goes ahead

The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed that Cork City's game with Derry City will go ahead this evening, despite the roof collapsing in one of the stands at the Turner's Cross stadium because of Storm Ophelia.

Winds up to 90mph caused the roof of the Derrynane Stand to cave in yesterday, with the game be cancelled last night.

But an FAI engineer visited the ground on Monday afternoon and he was satisfied that, while damage was done to a particular section, the rest of the stadium was not affected.

Cork City are continuing to clear up the debris this morning, and make safe the structure of the damaged stand.

The Derrynane Stand will remain off limits for the game, which could secure the Irish Premier League title - Cork need just one more point, to be crowned champions.
