Kyle Lafferty will serve a two-game ban with immediate effect after his appeal against a red card picked up against Aberdeen was dismissed.

The Hearts striker was sent off for Craig Levein's side against Aberdeen on December 30 for a late challenge on Dons captain Graeme Shinnie.

Lafferty appeared in person at a disciplinary hearing at Hampden Park, alongside Hearts assistant manager Austin McPhee, on Tuesday morning, however, his bid to downgrade the offence to a yellow has failed.

The Northern Ireland striker will now miss the Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Hibernian, live on Sky Sports Football, on January 21 and Hearts' trip to Hamilton Academical on January 24.
