All the action from MLS as Patrick Vieira's New York City beat Colorado Rapids 4-0 and Vancouver salvaged a draw against FC Dallas

David Villa scored a goal in each half as New York City FC eased to a 4-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids to record their fifth consecutive home win.

The Spain international's first came after a bad clearance from former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard, with Yangel Herrera setting up Maxi Moralez, who found Villa for the opener after 22 minutes.

Ronald Matarrita made it two early in the second half at a soggy Yankee Stadium, looping a header over Howard, while Moralez made it three 12 minutes after the break and Villa bookended the scoring with a shot which curled into the corner with 15 minutes to go.

Samuel Armenteros was on target with a late winner as the Portland Timbers won their fifth game in a row with a 2-1 win over Los Angeles FC.

After a quiet first half, the game was brought alive seven minutes after the break when Cristhian Paredes was first to the rebound after a Diego Valeri free kick was saved.

Carlos Vela put LAFC on level terms after 74 minutes, but Armenteros scored the winner nine minutes from time as he capped a neat box-to-box move.

The Vancouver Whitecaps came back from 2-0 down to salvage a point against FC Dallas after Kei Kermara scored from the spot in the 10th minute of stoppage time, while the Columbus Crew saw off the New England Revolution 1-0.
