Chelsea youngster Lewis Baker is close to joining Reading on loan following his recall from Leeds, according to Sky sources.

Baker joined Leeds on a season-long loan in the summer following stints at MK Dons, Vitesse Arnhem and Middlesbrough.

Baker, who signed a new five-year contract at Chelsea in August 2017, has featured once for the Blues' senior team, when he made his first-team debut in an FA Cup tie against Derby in 2014.

He has represented England at youth level, and was part of the U21 side that reached the final of 2017 European Championships.

Baker is one of a number of loan deals the Royals are targeting this month as they bolster their squad for new manager Jose Gomes, and they recently secured Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria until the end of the campaign.
