Hibernian head coach Neil Lennon admits he is looking for reinforcements in attack before the January transfer window closes

Neil Lennon has made signing more attacking players a priority for Hibernian between now and the end of the transfer window next Thursday.

The Easter Road head coach is without winger Martin Boyle for the rest of the season after he suffered a knee injury while playing for Australia in a friendly with Oman on New Year's Day.

Another winger, Thomas Agyepong, is also sidelined and having won only seven of their 22 Scottish Premiership games, including just two of their last 14, Lennon is seeking reinforcements.

"We need to get more bodies in, there's no question about that," he said. "We need more attacking-type players in the final third as we're very short of that at the minute.

"We're working away to get players in. It's very difficult. The squad is a little bit thin at the minute and we've already lost Martin for the season.

"Efe Ambrose has left and they were two of our most prominent players in the first half of the season.

"Now we've got a real worry with Ryan Porteous as well and he could be out for a while. He's got a scan today and sees the specialist on Monday.

"We're hoping he's not going to be out for too long but he could be. It's a manager's headache at the minute."

Hibernian's poor form has seen them slide down the table to eighth and, after Wednesday's 1-0 loss at Motherwell, they are now seven points off the top half of the table.

After his team's fourth-place finish last term, Lennon remains optimistic of turning things around in the weeks ahead.

He added: "Seven points is a big gap. It's not insurmountable but what we have to do is start winning games.

"We've been good at that over the two years. We're not giving up on the top six by a long way.

"We've had a barren run as such with wins. Performances have been okay but we're just lacking that bit of quality.

"I understand we've lost some real class players over the last six months. We're a work in progress at the minute."
